Banslochan: Herbal Silica from Bamboo Nodes
Banslochan also known as Vanshlochan and Bamboo Silica is a herbal silica concretion derived from the nodes of female bamboo trees. These white, translucent, and hard fragments, a bamboo exudate, possess significant therapeutic properties, with each part of the plant providing unique medicinal benefits. Scientifically known as Bambusa arundinacea, this plant is extensively cultivated in Asian countries such as India, the Philippines, and China, where the climate is ideal in terms of temperature and humidity.
Bamboo is categorized as a group of woody evergreen plants. Despite being a type of grass, larger bamboo varieties resemble trees, reaching heights of up to 40 meters and featuring stems joined at nodes. These stems are hollow and rich in silica. Banslochan, derived from bamboo, is a source of essential nutrients and has an earthy flavor.
